Hair Cut

Well it was finally time for us to take Garrett to get a haircut.  His mane was out of control!  After going to the Little Gym we headed down the street to Kool Cutz.  It's funny how nervous Daddy was before we got there.  I think he felt the same way I did whenever I would get Missy groomed.  At least there wasn't a chance that Garrett would attack anyone the way she did!  It was a very cool little place.  There were a few different types of chairs that the kids could choose to sit in and they could either play a video game or watch a dvd while getting haircuts.  Garrett got to sit in a fire engine and watch Elmo, but  he was not happy at all about the clippers and started crying right away.  The poor hair dresser sure had a lot of patience with us while we both had to hold him down so that she could clip around his neck and ears.  As soon as she was done and gave him a sucker he was totally back to his silly, happy self.

After that ordeal, we went to a little place in downtown Gilbert for lunch.  I think it was called something like 'the Market' and was really good.  Everything was locally grown and very fresh.  After lunch we went to the splash pad that was right outside.  Once again Garrett had a very busy day and was totally out within 5 minutes of getting in the car on the way home.  He actually slept until 5pm!!

Labor Day Holiday

It was a nice Labor Day Holiday today.  The weather wasn't too hot so Garrett and I decided to go to the zoo since it was so crowded yesterday.  We got an earlier start this morning and arrived there around 9am.  It wasn't as empty as it normally is when we go, but it wasn't too bad.  We didn't go to the splash pad area because it was way too crowded.  I was able to maneuver and distract Garrett enough so that he didn't see us walk past it.  We did however, spent a lot of time by the monkey area.  Garrett sure is a ladies man!  He made two little girlfriends while watching the monkeys eat breakfast and as soon as one little girl left he was walking up to another!  He must have gotten that from his uncles!  We also spent some time with the goat petting zoo area.  Garrett hadn't been there since he was just starting to stand on his own.  He seemed to really enjoy it and would walk right up to them to pet them and want to sit next to them.  It was so cute, but very dirty!  Oh, and of course he met another little girl there too!

After we left the zoo we went to In & Out for lunch.  Once again he met a little girlfriend at the table next to us.  She was only 5 days older than him and so cute.  They would stare and smile at each other.  One would do something and the other would copy almost like they were communicating in their own language.  It is so nice to see that I have such a sociable son.

I felt bad that Garrett couldn't go in the water at the zoo, so I decided to take him down the road to the Tempe Marketplace splash pad to cool off a bit.  He had fun running around and being silly in the water.  We only stayed about 20 minutes until he seemed like he was done.  He passed out before I even got to the freeway and slept for another hour or so when we got home.  Daddy got to get off of work early so we were able to just relax at home for the rest of the day.

Catching Up...

Again I have let a few weeks slip by without posting any updates.  Here are the past few weeks in review...

8/26/09 -Wednesday - Garrett and I went to the monthly Kids Club at the San Tan Mall.  Daddy didn't go because I was supposed to meet some moms from a moms group that I belong to.  He should have just come with us since I didn't end up seeing anyone from the group there.  Garrett was so silly.  He would wave at Webster whenever he would come by and even ran up to the front row to dance with the other kids.  I had to go up there to move him out of the way when the dancing stopped.  He sure doesn't seem very shy!  After the show we did some shopping and went to Paradise Bakery for lunch.  Poor guy was so warn out that he fell asleep in his car seat before I was even finished loading everything in the car!
8/29/09 - Saturday - Garrett and I were just going to run some errands around town, but my friend Kim called to see if we were free to play.  Since we didn't have anything planned we ended up meeting her and her little ones Hailey and Nicholas at Artville.  He played for a little bit, had lunch at Grandma's kitchen, and then headed over to the Arizona Mills Mall for some shopping.  It was an unexpectidly fun day!
8/30/09 - Sunday - Another day of not really having anything planned.  Garrett and I were shopping at Wal-mart when Jill called to see if we wanted to go to some antique shops that she had heard about in Chandler.  Of course we accepted the invitation and met her and her family there.  It was a very neat place.  There was lots of cute stuff.  I just wish I had more time to look around.  It would be a fun place to take Grandma Faure when she comes out to visit.  Daddy called me from work to say that he had a small injury at work and would need stitches.  He was hopping over a fence and his pants got caught and he cut himself.  We picked him up from the ER a few hours later to take him home.  He ended up getting about 4 stitches and would be off of work for a week.  Poor Daddy!  He was fine - just a little sore.
9/2/09 - Wednesday - Garrett and I had a meetup with one of the moms groups at the Power Ranch Community Splas Pad.  Tehre were only a few moms and kids that showed up, but he had a great time.  It was just a small splash pad, but very nice since it is part of a commuity rather than a shopping center.  There weren't that many people around and we got to sit in the shade to play and have some lunch.  After playing I dropped Garrett off at home with Daddy and I headed out for an afternoon of scrapbooking with a new meetup group I joined.  There were only 3 of us there, but I was able to get about 3 pages done.  The girls were very nice and I look forward to our next event.
9/3/09 - Thursday - We skipped our Little Gym class today and decided to go to the Mesquite Groves Water Park in Chandler.  It was so much fun!!  The kid are of the pool only goes up to 3 feet deep.  Garrett was able to walk in the water all by himself.  Of course we were right besides him at all times but he didn't want any help.  He would get mad if we tried to hold on to him...he has a mind of his own!  Even though it was 104 degrees outside, being in that cool water made us forget that it was the middle of summer in Arizona!  It was so relaxing that we felt like we were on vacation.  I think this is going to be our new favorite spot!
9/5/09 - Saturday -It was pouring down rain today.  We ran some errands and went out to breakfast.  Then Daddy and Garrett went home and I went to get my haircut and nails done.  Then around 5pm our friends Heather, Bryan, Brody, and baby Brock came over for dinner.  It was the first time they had been to our house in a long long time.  It was a great time.  Garrett and Brody played so well together.  After dinner we put on the Wiggles for them to watch and they were both just dancing away in the living room while the rest of us hung out visiting.  Brody is going to be 3 at the end of this month but it's funny to see that the older Garrett gets, the smaller the gap seems to be between them.  Garrett can actually keep up with the big kids now!
9/6/09 - Sunday - Today Daddy went to work so Garrett and I planned on going to the zoo since it finally stopped raining.  Once we drove up we turned around and left because it was so crowded!  Maybe because it is a holiday weekend.  So, instead, we went to the Tempe Beach Park to play in the splash pad.  We have never been there, but it was only about 5 minutes away from the zoo.  It was very cool.  As usual Garrett had a blast.  After about an hour there, we drove down a little further and went to the Tempe Marketplace to walk around and go in some shops.  We shared a frozen yogurt and Garrett got to play in that splash pad.  He was being so silly and trying to walk backwards in the water.  After playing we went to Barnes & Noble.  Garrett was so loud in there!  He was just yelling and talking at the top of his lungs - of course it had to be while we were in a bookstore.  He wasn't making much noise when we were playing outside -go figure!

Our Nightly Visitor

I just wanted to post some pictures of our little evening visitor.  He has been hanging out on our doorstep at night.  I have no idea where he goes during the day, but every once in a while we open up the door at night, and he is right there!  He's so ugly that he's kinda cute...

Where does the time go?????

I can't believe that it is the end of August already. Where did this month go? I just noticed that I haven't updated this blog in almost a month so I'll just recap the past few weeks.

8/1/09 - Saturday morning we picked up our Bountiful Basket full of yummy fruits and veggies. It was the first time I had ordered the basket in a long time, but it was the best one that I had ever gotten. Then Garrett and I went to Artville to play. He just has the best time there. He ALMOST went down the slide by himself, but would chicken out right when sat on the edge. He would sit there for a minute then get up and walk (or run) back down the ramp instead. We had a great time.

8/2/09 - Sunday must have been pretty uneventful because I have no idea what we did. I did however take some pictures of Garrett sitting on his blue rocking chair. I used to take his picture every month until he was about 6 months old. I have no idea why I stopped, but I wanted to compare some of those pictures to now. What a difference!!! Where did my little, teeny, tiny baby go??? He has turned into a little boy in the blink of an eye.

8/4/09 - Tuesday night Garrett decided that he could climb up and down the living room furniture all by himself! He would pull him self up, stand, and jump on the rocker/recliner. Then he'd get himself down and do it all over again. I can only imagine what he will decide to do next!

8/6/09 - Thursday was our Little Gym class in the morning. Garrett was not having it!! He was a very unhappy boy. We decided to leave early since he was disrupting the class. They told us that we could make up the class another day next week since we were only there about 15 minutes. Once we left and gave him a snack he was a happy camper! We realized that his meltdown was probably because he was starving!!! We both felt like such bad parents... starving our poor boy and getting mad at him for acting out. I guess cereal and a granola bar just weren't enough. Oh well we will be prepared from now on! After gym class we went over to our friend Heather's house to have lunch and meet the newest addition to her family, baby Brock. He was born on July 4th and was just a perfectly precious little baby. Garrett had lots of fun playing with Brody. They completely destroyed the play room, but at least it kept them busy.

8/7/09 - Friday I took Garrett to daycare so that my friend (and co-worker) Kim could come over to scrapbook. We worked on our albums all day long. Then her husband and 10 month old son came over with dinner so that we could keep on working and they guys could entertain the boys. It was the first time the we had all gotten together and it was great. I look forward to spending more time with them.

8/8/09 - Saturday Garrett and I drove all around town looking for an Elmo Restaurant that Tuesday Morning Stores had on sale for that day only. I was finally able to call and have one put on hold for me all the way on the other side of Mesa! Geez, what else can I do to spoil my child?? Then that evening I went with Kim to the Scrapbook Barn to an all night crop. We didn't get home until after 12:30am! That was waaaayyyy past my bedtime! It was a lot of fun though.

8/9/09 - Sunday Garrett was up way too early - 6am! That meant that I had only gotten about 5 1/2 hours of sleep. I was definitely feeling it that morning. I decided that we just needed to get out of the house so we got ready, got a Starbucks, and headed to the zoo. It was just Garrett and I, but we had the best best time! We went to some areas that we had never been before. We even made it in time to feed the giraffes. I was surprised that Garrett wasn't as scared of them that I thought he would be. He kept putting his hand out to feed them more. Then we went to the Monkey Village where we walk in the same caged area with loose monkeys swinging around. We weren't allowed to touch them, but it was very cool to see them so close. After that we wen to the new splash pad to cool off. Garrett loved it of course. He absolutely loves playing in water! Then after walking around a little more we went on the tram ride that took us all around the zoo. It was so much fun that I forgot about how tired I was from my late night out the night before. It was a great great day for us.

8/11/09 - Tuesday I had to work, but Daddy took Garrett to the Little Gym for our make-up class. He said that Garrett was a crazy man! No comparison to the week before. He was running around and yelling and dancing the whole time. He must have been a little amped up from sharing a cookie with Daddy at the bakery next door before class. Well, as long as they had fun then that's all that matters.

8/12/09 - Wednesday we all went to the zoo again. It was way to hot and humid though. We walked around a little bit and then headed straight for the splash pad. We had lots of fun there, but then were melting again right after. We didn't end up staying very long, but it was nice to get out for the day. I can't wait for the summer to be over!

8/13/09 - Thursday was our regular Little Gym class at 10:15am. Garrett had a blast again. He is so crazy! His favorite parts are when the teacher brings out a large garbage can full of balls that she dumps out for them to play with and when she does bubbles. He just runs around and yells the whole time. After class we went to our favorite place, Joe's Farm Grill for lunch. It was still pretty hot out so we ate inside and walked around just a little to get Garrett's last spurt of energy out before heading home for a nap. After nap time we went outside in the backyard to play with chalk for the first time and go in our little pool. It was very refreshing and a good way to tire that poor boy out!

8/14/09 - Friday we met Kim and her two kids Hailey and Nicholas at the scrapbook store Scrapbooks Etc to do some shopping and then headed to Artville. It was the first time Kim had ever been there and of course she loved it and bought an annual pass. Garrett finally did it... he went down the slide all by himself!!!! I think it was because he saw Hailey do it, but he went for it. I was trying to make sure I got pictures as well as catch him when he got to the bottom. I think I did a pretty good job because I got both. He had a ball playing with Hailey. She is a little older than him, but he was able to keep up with her fairly well. After a couple hours of playing we all went to lunch across the street at a little place called Grandma's Kitchen. The food was really good and Garrett got to eat his favorite - pancakes, eggs, and sausage. Yummy! After lunch we dragged the poor sleeping kids over to another scrapbook store. We had to go because it was going out of business and everything was 50% off! We both felt like the worst moms for getting our sleeping kids out of the car. Garrett was so tired that he didn't even wake up when I put him from the car seat to the stroller...or even for the 1st half hour that we were in the store! He is such a trooper! Or maybe he just likes scrapbook shopping with Mommy.

8/15-22/09 - Grandpa Faure came out to visit us for a week. We had a great time. When he got here on Saturday evening Garrett went right to him to be picked up. We had such a nice time just hanging out. On Sunday we went to Ikea and lunch at Rainforest Cafe. Garrett was a little scared of the monkeys that were on the wall next to our table, but he would wave and say hi to them when they moved. While we were at Ikea we got a rug for the living room floor, a tent and easel for Garrett, and some other little things for the house. On Monday we had to work so Grandpa had a quiet day here at the house. Tuesday Daddy was off so they went to the Tempe Marketplace for lunch and splash pad. Wednesday we stayed home all day and relaxed. We put up the Kangaroo Climber in the backyard. We had it up a few months ago but Garrett was too small for it so we put it away. Now he almost seems to big! On Thursday we all went to the Little Gym class. It was funny to see Daddy and Grandpa playing around with each other - they were acting like the rest of the 2 year olds in the class! After class we went to Joe's Farm Grill for lunch. After we had lunch we walked next door to the Coffee Shop and had some dessert. Garrett loved the frosted cupcakes and cookies. Later that evening we watched Sophie and Kylie for a little while. Jeff came by after work and they all stayed for dinner. Garrett had a blast with his buddies. On Friday I took Garrett to daycare so that Grandpa and I could work on getting the garage organized. It was pretty hot outside but we pushed through and got everything done. We loaded up my car with stuff to drop off at Goodwill and were done with everything by noon. I am finally able to park my car in the garage with lots of room on both sides. It was such a nice feeling to have that accomplished. Later we went to lunch and Wal-Mart to get some plastic bins and school supplies for Garrett. Yes, SCHOOL SUPPLIES!!! My little baby is no longer such a little baby. He is old enough to start the curriculum portion of daycare. I had a list of supplies to get for him and label everything with his name on it. I can't believe that he is going to be two years old in a few months. Where does the time go??? Then on Saturday we got up and went to breakfast with Grandpa before he headed out for his long drive back home. It was a very fun week. We love it when Grandpa comes to visit. We can't wait for his next trip out.
8/23/09 - Sunday Garrett and I got up and headed out for the zoo. Mommy had another LATE night of scrapbooking at the Scrapbook Barn with some friends from work. I didn't get home until 12:30am and Garrett was up the next morning bright and early. It was another hot day but we spent lots of time in the splash pad keeping cool. I bought Garrett a hat but he wouldn't keep it on. That is of course until he got home and was playing with Daddy. Then he kept wanting to wear the silly hat. He thought he was sooo coooool!

Well that was a quick recap of the last few weeks. We had a lot of fun going to different places and spending time with Grandpa Faure. Each and every moment is so special and I try more and more to just take it all in.
