Hair Cut

Well it was finally time for us to take Garrett to get a haircut.  His mane was out of control!  After going to the Little Gym we headed down the street to Kool Cutz.  It's funny how nervous Daddy was before we got there.  I think he felt the same way I did whenever I would get Missy groomed.  At least there wasn't a chance that Garrett would attack anyone the way she did!  It was a very cool little place.  There were a few different types of chairs that the kids could choose to sit in and they could either play a video game or watch a dvd while getting haircuts.  Garrett got to sit in a fire engine and watch Elmo, but  he was not happy at all about the clippers and started crying right away.  The poor hair dresser sure had a lot of patience with us while we both had to hold him down so that she could clip around his neck and ears.  As soon as she was done and gave him a sucker he was totally back to his silly, happy self.

After that ordeal, we went to a little place in downtown Gilbert for lunch.  I think it was called something like 'the Market' and was really good.  Everything was locally grown and very fresh.  After lunch we went to the splash pad that was right outside.  Once again Garrett had a very busy day and was totally out within 5 minutes of getting in the car on the way home.  He actually slept until 5pm!!

Labor Day Holiday

It was a nice Labor Day Holiday today.  The weather wasn't too hot so Garrett and I decided to go to the zoo since it was so crowded yesterday.  We got an earlier start this morning and arrived there around 9am.  It wasn't as empty as it normally is when we go, but it wasn't too bad.  We didn't go to the splash pad area because it was way too crowded.  I was able to maneuver and distract Garrett enough so that he didn't see us walk past it.  We did however, spent a lot of time by the monkey area.  Garrett sure is a ladies man!  He made two little girlfriends while watching the monkeys eat breakfast and as soon as one little girl left he was walking up to another!  He must have gotten that from his uncles!  We also spent some time with the goat petting zoo area.  Garrett hadn't been there since he was just starting to stand on his own.  He seemed to really enjoy it and would walk right up to them to pet them and want to sit next to them.  It was so cute, but very dirty!  Oh, and of course he met another little girl there too!

After we left the zoo we went to In & Out for lunch.  Once again he met a little girlfriend at the table next to us.  She was only 5 days older than him and so cute.  They would stare and smile at each other.  One would do something and the other would copy almost like they were communicating in their own language.  It is so nice to see that I have such a sociable son.

I felt bad that Garrett couldn't go in the water at the zoo, so I decided to take him down the road to the Tempe Marketplace splash pad to cool off a bit.  He had fun running around and being silly in the water.  We only stayed about 20 minutes until he seemed like he was done.  He passed out before I even got to the freeway and slept for another hour or so when we got home.  Daddy got to get off of work early so we were able to just relax at home for the rest of the day.

Catching Up...

Again I have let a few weeks slip by without posting any updates.  Here are the past few weeks in review...

8/26/09 -Wednesday - Garrett and I went to the monthly Kids Club at the San Tan Mall.  Daddy didn't go because I was supposed to meet some moms from a moms group that I belong to.  He should have just come with us since I didn't end up seeing anyone from the group there.  Garrett was so silly.  He would wave at Webster whenever he would come by and even ran up to the front row to dance with the other kids.  I had to go up there to move him out of the way when the dancing stopped.  He sure doesn't seem very shy!  After the show we did some shopping and went to Paradise Bakery for lunch.  Poor guy was so warn out that he fell asleep in his car seat before I was even finished loading everything in the car!
8/29/09 - Saturday - Garrett and I were just going to run some errands around town, but my friend Kim called to see if we were free to play.  Since we didn't have anything planned we ended up meeting her and her little ones Hailey and Nicholas at Artville.  He played for a little bit, had lunch at Grandma's kitchen, and then headed over to the Arizona Mills Mall for some shopping.  It was an unexpectidly fun day!
8/30/09 - Sunday - Another day of not really having anything planned.  Garrett and I were shopping at Wal-mart when Jill called to see if we wanted to go to some antique shops that she had heard about in Chandler.  Of course we accepted the invitation and met her and her family there.  It was a very neat place.  There was lots of cute stuff.  I just wish I had more time to look around.  It would be a fun place to take Grandma Faure when she comes out to visit.  Daddy called me from work to say that he had a small injury at work and would need stitches.  He was hopping over a fence and his pants got caught and he cut himself.  We picked him up from the ER a few hours later to take him home.  He ended up getting about 4 stitches and would be off of work for a week.  Poor Daddy!  He was fine - just a little sore.
9/2/09 - Wednesday - Garrett and I had a meetup with one of the moms groups at the Power Ranch Community Splas Pad.  Tehre were only a few moms and kids that showed up, but he had a great time.  It was just a small splash pad, but very nice since it is part of a commuity rather than a shopping center.  There weren't that many people around and we got to sit in the shade to play and have some lunch.  After playing I dropped Garrett off at home with Daddy and I headed out for an afternoon of scrapbooking with a new meetup group I joined.  There were only 3 of us there, but I was able to get about 3 pages done.  The girls were very nice and I look forward to our next event.
9/3/09 - Thursday - We skipped our Little Gym class today and decided to go to the Mesquite Groves Water Park in Chandler.  It was so much fun!!  The kid are of the pool only goes up to 3 feet deep.  Garrett was able to walk in the water all by himself.  Of course we were right besides him at all times but he didn't want any help.  He would get mad if we tried to hold on to him...he has a mind of his own!  Even though it was 104 degrees outside, being in that cool water made us forget that it was the middle of summer in Arizona!  It was so relaxing that we felt like we were on vacation.  I think this is going to be our new favorite spot!
9/5/09 - Saturday -It was pouring down rain today.  We ran some errands and went out to breakfast.  Then Daddy and Garrett went home and I went to get my haircut and nails done.  Then around 5pm our friends Heather, Bryan, Brody, and baby Brock came over for dinner.  It was the first time they had been to our house in a long long time.  It was a great time.  Garrett and Brody played so well together.  After dinner we put on the Wiggles for them to watch and they were both just dancing away in the living room while the rest of us hung out visiting.  Brody is going to be 3 at the end of this month but it's funny to see that the older Garrett gets, the smaller the gap seems to be between them.  Garrett can actually keep up with the big kids now!
9/6/09 - Sunday - Today Daddy went to work so Garrett and I planned on going to the zoo since it finally stopped raining.  Once we drove up we turned around and left because it was so crowded!  Maybe because it is a holiday weekend.  So, instead, we went to the Tempe Beach Park to play in the splash pad.  We have never been there, but it was only about 5 minutes away from the zoo.  It was very cool.  As usual Garrett had a blast.  After about an hour there, we drove down a little further and went to the Tempe Marketplace to walk around and go in some shops.  We shared a frozen yogurt and Garrett got to play in that splash pad.  He was being so silly and trying to walk backwards in the water.  After playing we went to Barnes & Noble.  Garrett was so loud in there!  He was just yelling and talking at the top of his lungs - of course it had to be while we were in a bookstore.  He wasn't making much noise when we were playing outside -go figure!

Our Nightly Visitor

I just wanted to post some pictures of our little evening visitor.  He has been hanging out on our doorstep at night.  I have no idea where he goes during the day, but every once in a while we open up the door at night, and he is right there!  He's so ugly that he's kinda cute...
