Busy Week

Since Daddy had to work on Father's Day Sunday (after our CA trip) I surprised him before work with some gifts. We got him some new shorts and shirts. He was totally surprised when he walked out to say good morning to Garrett and found everything laid out on the living room floor. Garrett gave him the card so that they could read it together. I think he kinda likes being a dad!! They are so cute together.

Since last October I cut my work hours to 2 days a week on Mondays and Tuesdays. This week though I worked 3 days since we had the first round of our annual audit. Working that extra day sure made it seem like a long week. I think I am getting very spoiled! Then on Thursday I had to get some testing done that my doctor requested. When I was trying to get pregnant with Garrett I had a difficult time and am finding it to be the same again. We want to try for another baby so he wanted to try to see what's going on. I had to get both an ultrasound and a pelvic MRI done. I now just have to wait for him to call me with my results. With that being said, Thursday seemed like a very long day.

On Friday Garrett and I went to the Arizona Museum of Youth. They have a special area for young kids called Artville. It was very cool. It was a huge room that was divided into smaller rooms that the kids can go in and out of. There was a little kitchen, a living room, an art room and lots more. I don't' know if Garrett had more fun playing or if I had more fun watching him play and interact with all the kids. He went from room to room playing with all of the stuff. He especially liked the room with the kitchen. He would sit at the table and play with all the 'food'. I noticed that he kept putting his fingers in his mouth and am not sure if it is him teething or more of a comfort thing since he was in an unfamiliar setting. I'll have to see if he continues to do it. He upset a couple of little girls that were building with blocks since he can't help but go and knock those types of things down. He does the same thing all the time at home. As soon as he sees us playing with his blocks and making some sort of tower he has to run over and knock it all down. He's so silly. Then once we were done in the play area we went to walk around the rest of the museum. He went up and down the little slide and would just walk around checking out all the neat exhibits. There was one big monster or bug looking thing and Garrett thought that it was a spider so he would walk by and put his hands up as if he was doing 'itsy bitsy spider' like we do at home. After spending a couple hours there we met Daddy for lunch since he was off for the rest of the day. We tried to walk around outside after lunch but it was way too hot! The AZ summer has definitely started!

On Saturday Daddy had the day off so we did some stuff around the house and then met our friends Heather and Bryan and little Brody for dinner. Heather is due any day now with baby #2. It was really nice to get together and for Brody and Garrett to see each other.

Today Garrett and I went to Costco in the morning and then to the Splash Pad. Since it is so hot out its nice to have somewhere to take him that allows him to be outside and still stay cool. He had fun running in and out of the shooting water. Then later on after his nap we played with Play-Doh for the first time. He didn't try to eat it as much as I thought he would, but I think he was waiting more for my reaction when he would try to put some in his mouth. I notice that he has been doing that more and more. He will do something that he isn't suppose to do and look at me waiting to see what I'll do - isn't he too young for that??? We had a fun day. Well, it's time for bed and a start of a new week.

Fun California Trip

We got back last night from a few days spent in California visiting family. We arrived in Long Beach at 9:30pm on Tuesday. G was good on the plane, considering all he wanted to do was kick the seat in front of us and get out of Daddy's arms to walk around. He did end up falling asleep for the last 20 minutes or so of the flight. Once we got to Grandma F's house he got his second wind and was up playing until around 11:30! Grandma was so happy to see him! We hadn't been out to visit since April.

The next morning (Wed) he was up like clockwork at 5:30am! Not enough sleep for Mommy and Daddy! We got ready and went to meet Daddy's sister J and Grandpa F at our niece E's graduation from elementary school. The weather was perfect out. Daddy got to run around with G and  our nephew L while I took pictures. I can't even imagine that one day it will be G up there getting a little diploma and being sent off to Junior High. Time flies by so fast. I always remember the first time I met E. She was about 1 and just learning to walk peeking around the hallway corner at Grandma's house in her pj's. Now she is going to start Junior High! Crazy Crazy. Later that evening we just hung out in Grandma's backyard. G loved looking at all of the plants and decorations.

On Thursday we went to Lake Forest to hang out with my brother S for the day. Then we met his girlfriend  down in Laguna Beach and had lunch. After lunch we went to the little park and walked on the beach. G wasn't too happy to put his feet in the sand, but once he got his shoes on he walked towards the water and was happy to get wet. I couldn't help but think about how much fun my mom would have had with him. I know that he got his love of water and love of music from her. I just wish they could have had the time to enjoy those things together. But I know that she is always with him and can see him having so much fun. After the beach we headed back to S's house for dinner. My other brother A came over and we bbq'd carne asada. G had fun playing with his uncles and Bucchi, Uncle S's black lab. Once we knew that he was done for the night we drove back to Long Beach to Grandma's house.

On Friday we went with Grandma to Old Town Pasadena for the day. We had lunch and walked around the shops. Then later that night we met Papa F, Auntie J, Uncle J, and cousin L for dinner at SuperMex on 2nd Street. We ate yummy mexican food and then went to play in the park. It was so much fun! The park was designed for young kids so G got to climb up and down all the toys.

Then on Saturday we went back to Uncle S's house for a bbq lunch with my Dad and his girlfriend Grandma D, Uncle A and one of his friends, and Uncle S and his girlfriend K. Uncle S had planned on taking G in the pool, but the weather was pretty gloomy. Daddy and I thought it was a nice change from the hot AZ weather. We then caught our flight back home to AZ. G did very good on the plane. He got to sit in his own seat and watch his Elmo dvd. He was totally out by the time we got home. He was exhausted from a fun filled weekend with family. It was such a nice little trip, but as always, it goes by way too fast. It's hard to try to spend equal amounts of time with both families, but I think we do a pretty good job of seeing everybody. I love to see G interact with his family that he doesn't get to see all that often. Each and every moment spent together is so special.

Busy Morning!

Well today is the first official day of this blog. I am still trying to figure out how I am going to update what has happened in the last year and a half since welcoming baby G into the world. So much has happened in that time that it may take a while to go back that far, so as of now I am starting fresh today...

G and I had a busy morning. He woke up around 5:30am and had his usual 'nana' and some cereal in the living room while sitting with Daddy and watching The Wiggles. Once Daddy left for work we went on our morning walk. I have been doing the 'couch to 5K' program and today was the last day of week 5. It was a 20 minute run-no stops! I actually did it!! I was really proud of myself. 5 weeks ago I had a hard time getting started and then to see the change in my endurance over the last 5 weeks is just crazy.

Later that morning we went to the park. It had been a while since G had been on the swings so he wasn't too sure about it. He mainly wanted to walk, or should I say almost run, everywhere. It was starting to get hot so we left and went to the San Tan Village to do some shopping and play in the splash pad. Now that was a lot of fun. G had a blast running in and out of the water with all the other kids there. He tried to escape up the stairs a few times, but then ran right back into the water. He would try to drink it (yuck!) and step on it. He is just so darn cute that I can't stand it!!! He was really pooped after that and fell asleep in the car right away. Hopefully I can get a good long nap out of him!!

Telling me that he is done for the day and pointing to his towel... And...OUT!!!
