Obsession

Garrett is officially obsessed with these little plastic toys. He has an army set, a zoo set, a bug set, an Indian set, and a cowboy set. All he wants to do is put them in the bucket and dump them out. They were the first thing he wanted in the morning when he woke up. They even had to accompany him for breakfast! It was the first time he has ever wanted toys on his tray while he ate.

Date Day

Today Mommy and Daddy had a well deserved 'Date Day'! We dropped Garrett off at daycare in the morning and headed out for a day of fun. We started out by going to the new bowling alley in Gilbert. It was so much fun! I can't remember when the last time was that we went bowling. I will always remember though the time we went when we first started dating... like 12 years ago... we went bowling with some friends and my girlfriend asked Daddy if we were officially boyfriend and girlfriend. He said that he didn't know that he was supposed to actually ask me to be his girlfriend, so the next morning I got a message from him to make it 'official' by asking me on my answering machine! (so cheesy but sweet) Wow, look at where we are now after all those years. Its been a journey that I wouldn't trade for anything. Anyways, after 3 games of bowling we went to play in the arcade. I played ski-ball and Daddy played some other stuff - it was the fasted $10 we'd ever spent! Then we went to lunch at Chipotle and saw the movie Hangover. It was a pretty funny movie - a little on the raunchy side, but definitely fun. We will have to do this on a regular basis. As much as we missed our baby, we enjoyed spending a day together.

Joe's Farm Grill

Today, after our fun time at The Little Gym, we went to lunch at Joe's Farm Grill in Gilbert. It is our new favorite place to eat. We hadn't been there since it first opened over a year ago so we figured we'd give it a try. We are always on the lookout for good places to eat that are Toddler Friendly! This place is perfect since it is totally casual and has some great areas to eat or walk around outside. (It was actually featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives on Food Network last year) We ate lunch outside, even though it was probably 100 degrees or more, so that if Garrett got antsy he could just walk around the garden. Once he started to take off I just followed him with the camera. I really wanted to try to mess around with the camera settings but I can never remember what to do. Even though I have taken about 3 different photography classes, I have a mental blockage on what to do. Then I get frustrated because I ruin good shots with bad settings. Oh well, maybe one day it will just click! Anyways, I'm sure there will be many more posts from this place. Yummy!!

Kids Club & Splash Pad

Today we went to the monthly Kid's Club at the San Tan Village. It is held the 3rd Wednesday of every month. The last time I took Garrett was about 9 months ago. I kept forgetting about it. This time Daddy was able to come with us. It is a free program put on by Westcor shopping malls and is made up of about 45 minutes of singing and dancing for the kids and the big warthog named Webster. When Webster would walk by the audience, Garrett would get up and try to get close to wave hi. He didn't want to get too close though - he was just fine waving at him from a few feet away. After the program the kids were able to go up and talk to Webster or give him a hug. As the pictures below show, he went up to him and waved, but when Daddy held him to get closer he wasn't too sure about Webster coming up that close.

After that we went to the splash pad. I don't know if its because Daddy is with us, or if he is getting braver and braver from going to classes at The Little Gym, but all Garrett wanted to do was go up and down the stairs and climb on the ledges. Forget about the water and kids playing, he just wants to climb and jump off of things. One day we'll have to venture out to other splash pads for a change. This one is just nice because its so close.

That was about it for today. We just went home and just hung out the rest of the day.

Our 1st Camping Trip!

We had a great weekend on our first camping trip! We went to Cave Springs Campground up near Sedona, AZ. We went with our friends Jeff, Jill & their girls, Kim, Armando & their girls, and Aaron. We got 3 sites between us, but could really have gotten away with one or two sites. We got up there on Friday afternoon and stayed until Sunday morning. The kids had so much fun playing in the dirt and in the little creek. Garrett wasn't a big fan of the water since it was so cold, but he enjoyed running around the sites and playing in the tent. He was happiest when his little buddy Kylie was with him. They are so cute together. His little face just lights up when he sees her. She is about 20 months older than him, but is so good with him. He cracks up whenever he's with her. Garrett was the littlest one of all the kids, but he thought he was one of the big kids. We had to watch that he didn't have any major spills over the dirt and rocks. He did really well. He had a few melt-downs, but nothing major.

On Saturday, Daddy and I took Garrett for a car ride though town since he was having a hard time taking a nap at the campsite. He fell asleep right away in the car so we just drove around so that he could get a good nap in. Once we got back we all went to a place called Rainbow Trout Farm. It was full of fish that the kids could catch. The bigger girls all got to catch a fish for the first time. We had to watch that Garrett didn't get too close to the water, but he was able to get close enough to throw food in for the fish to eat. He really liked seeing them all jump together to get the food. After that we went back to the camp ground and I just drove him around and around so that he could take another nap. All that playing just poops him out! The other campers probably thought I was a weirdo stalker driving back and forth, but at least we didn't have a crying baby!

At night we roasted marshmallows and smores - yummy! Garrett really liked the marshmallows. It was so nice to just sit around talking and relaxing. I think we are going to try to plan another group trip in September, but we might try to do another little family trip before then. We have all of our gear so we might as well take advantage and put it to good use!

Happy Birthday Grandma Faure!

I just wanted to post the pictures of the album that we sent Grandma Faure for her birthday. I made the album at one of the scrapbooking classes my co-worker Dana puts on every month. Lately we have been doing different kinds of little albums. This album was made with Stampin' Up paper and was bound together with painted skewers. I used the pictures that Jill took of us a few weeks back. She did a great job! I think the album turned out really cute, but now I just wish I had one for myself! Happy Birthday Grandma Faure - We Love You!
